Austin Dean went 3 for 4, but the visiting Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp didn’t score for the final seven innings in a 5-2 loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts in Southern League action Sunday.
Dustin Geiger and David Vidal added two hits each for Jacksonville (11-13 second half, 41-53 overall), which stranded 12 runners and dropped its fourth game in a row.
Chris Mazza (1-6) took the loss after giving up three runs and seven hits over five innings.
Lookouts reliever Paul Clemens got Cam Maron to fly out with runners on first and second to end the game.
Down 2-0, Chattanooga took the lead with a three-run second inning. The Lookouts (19-5, 61-33) padded their advantage with two runs in the eighth.
Chattanooga improved to 6-3 against the Shrimp.
The teams meet at 11:15 a.m. Monday in the finale of the five-game series.
Jacksonville returns home to face Tennessee at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
