Turning point: Emerson Clark became Jacksonville’s first player ever to record a hat trick, netting two goals in the third period to pull the Icemen comfortably clear of Orlando at Veterans Memorial Arena Tuesday.

Three stars: 1. Clark, Jacksonville (hat trick). 2. Dylan Blujus, Jacksonville (one goal, one assist). 3. Dajon Mingo, Jacksonville (two assists).

Penalty box: The Icemen finally ended their power-play slump, scoring not one but two goals during the first period while with the extra skater.

Around the rink: Everett Clark, younger brother of the hat trick scorer, tallied Jacksonville’s first-ever shorthanded goal in the first period. … Blujus and Brendan Collier also scored as the Icemen struck six goals for the first time in club history. … Goaltender Colton Phinney, making the start after Jamie Phillips was recalled to the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose, made 21 saves in goal.
