Rank, team, record, classification, previous

1. Palatka (18-0, Class 6A), 3

Notable wins: Mainland, Matanzas (twice), Monsignor Pace, North Florida Educational, Ponte Vedra, Satellite

Glance: A 4-0 week for the Panthers, who drubbed Clay (68-34) and Crescent City (75-28), and handled Matanzas (58-47) and Mainland (52-45). Strength of schedule is among the weakest for all teams in the Power Poll, according to the MaxPreps rankings, but there’s no way to deny that the Panthers just keep on rolling along. There’s a very tricky game Friday against a Ponte Vedra team that it edged 63-61 earlier this season.

2. Creekside (16-3, Class 8A), 1

Notable wins: Bishop Kenny, Landrum, SC, Oakleaf, Plant, Ponte Vedra (twice), Vanguard

Glance: The Knights had their six-game winning streak come to an end on Jan. 19 with a 54-49 OT loss to rival Bartram Trail and slip out of the top spot that they’ve held all season. They bounced back with a quality 41-34 win over Bishop Kenny on Tuesday night. Three big ones to close out the month on tap — at Fleming Island on Thursday night, home against Providence on Jan. 27 and home against Gainesville Buchholz on Jan. 30.

3. First Coast (16-4, Class 8A), 2

Notable wins: Bishop Snyder, Fleming Island, Fletcher (twice), Impact Christian, NFEI, Paxon, Providence, Raines, Ribault

Glance: The top-seeded Buccaneers suffered a surprising loss in the Gateway Conference tournament this week, getting handled by Atlantic Coast, 75-57, their most lopsided loss of the season. They were the presumptive Gateway favorites, but instead, have to watch while Raines and Jackson play at First Coast on Friday at 7 p.m. for the title.

4. Providence (14-5, Class 4A), 4

Notable wins: Bishop Snyder, Bolles, Fletcher, Impact Christian, Ponte Vedra, University Christian

Glance: The Stallions had a couple of blowout wins since our last Power Poll, beating a much-improved UC 58-42, and then pounding St. Joseph 64-38.

5. Raines (16-5, Class 5A), NR

Notable wins: Bolles,Englewood (twice), Episcopal, First Coast, Fleming Island, Impact Christian, Ribault (twice)

Glance: The Vikings re-enter the Power Poll after a brief absence, courtesy of their blitz through the Gateway Conference tournament. They’ve won five in a row entering Friday’s title game against Jackson, a game of redemption for the Vikings. Jackson handed Raines a 65-32 reality check, followed by a 43-41 win over the Vikings. This one’s for the conference crown.

Dropped out: Bolles (16-4, Class 5A), lost to Ponte Vedra.

Next three: Bolles (16-4, Class 5A); Bishop Kenny (14-5, Class 6A); Bartram Trail (13-5, Class 8A).

On the bubble: Bishop Snyder (11-7, Class 4A); Bradford (12-7, Class 5A); Englewood (16-4, Class 7A); Episcopal (10-7, Class 5A); Fleming Island (13-9, Class 8A); Fletcher (11-8, Class 8A); Impact Christian (10-10, Class 2A); Jackson (9-7, Class 5A); North Florida Educational (11-6, Class 2A); Oakleaf (11-6, Class 8A); Orange Park (13-6, Class 6A); Paxon (10-7, Class 6A); Ponte Vedra (9-9, Class 6A); Potter’s House (N/A, Independent); Yulee (10-7, Class 6A)
