NOTABLE UNDRAFTED PLAYERS

The Jags took an area player in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday, selecting Florida State linebacker Telvin Smith. A look at several other players with local ties in the order they were picked.

Team: Philadelphia

Round: 4 (101st overall)

Size: 5-11, 194 pounds

Bio: The first player selected on Saturday. … Watkins was the only UF cornerback selected. … Senior Bowl participant is a versatile player who projects as a nickel defender but can hold up at other spots as well. … He posted a 4.41 40 at the combine.

Quote: “Extremely high football intelligence,” Eagles coach Chip Kelly said. “He could be the quarterback of the defense because of his football intelligence.”

Team: Atlanta

Round: 4 (103rd overall)

Size: 5-8, 206 pounds

Bio: Opted to leave FSU with one year of eligibility, thinking that a running back with a medium level of experience (404 carries) has more value. Freeman (5-8, 206) rushed for 1,016 yards last year, the Seminoles’ first 1,000-yard rusher since 1996 (Warrick Dunn).

Quote: “When I woke up this morning, I thought ‘I just want to go to Atlanta’ — because I was getting frustrated that I didn’t go a little earlier,” Freeman said. “I’m just at a loss for words. I’m going to bring hype. I’m going to bring swag. I’m going to bring hard work.”

Team: New England

Round: 4 (105th overall)

Size: 6-4, 315 pounds

Bio: The Senior Bowl participant started 41 games in college, seeing time at right guard and left guard before settling in at center. … Big guy, but only six other offensive linemen had shorter arms (his were 32 1/4 inches) at combine.

Quote: “I like the way [the Patriots] do things and the way the organization is run,” Stork said. “I just want to come in, compete for a job and go to work.”

Team: New Orleans

Round: 5 (169th overall)

Size: 6-3, 227 pounds.

Bio: Powell was the top recruit in the country coming out of high school but never reached that potential because of injuries. … He tore his ACL twice and missed the entire 2012 season. … Powell moves well, clocking a 4.65 in the 40-yard dash at the combine.

Quote: “I feel like I am going to be a great fit for them,” Powell said. “I am a passionate guy when it comes to this game, and I like the defensive mind-set that they have in New Orleans.”

Team: Seattle

Round: 5 (172nd overall)

Size: 6-4, 304 pounds.

Bio: Redshirt senior who started 35 games. … Benched 225 pounds 30 times at his pro day. … Is a run-stopping specialist.

Quote: "I was hoping and praying to go today,” Staten said. “Where do you think you best project? They'll fit me in where needed.”

Team: New England

Round: 6 (179th overall)

Size: 6-3, 323 pounds.

Bio: Halapio was the second UF player chosen by the Patriots, who took defensive tackle Dominique Easley in Thursday’s first round. … The Senior Bowl participant has great experience, starting 43 games for the Gators. He’s powerful in the run game but has difficulty handling quickness in pass protection.

Quote: “My mind-set is to come up there and just start from the bottom and work hard every day and contribute to team success,” Halapio said.

Florida – CB Loucheiz Purifoy, CB Marcus Roberson, C Jon Harrison, TE Trey Burton and WR Solomon Patton. FSU – LB Christian Jones and RB James Wilder Jr. Tennessee State – TE A.C. Leonard (University Christian). Tulane K Cairo Santos (St. Joseph Academy).
