Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Defending champion: No. 1 seeded North Carolina defeated No. 2 Virginia 61-57 at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

Tournament tough: Duke has won 19 ACC tournaments but the Tar Heels can match that by winning this year. N.C. State is a distant third with 10 championships.

Invading The Apple: This will be the first ACC tournament in the New York metro area and the furthest north the tournament has ever been played. Last year’s tournament in Washington was the fifth time in the D.C. area.

Who’s hot: Top-seeded North Carolina (26-6) knocked off No. 5 Duke (23-8) at home on Saturday to close the ACC regular season. The Tar Heels bounced back from a 53-43 loss to Virginia (21-9) the previous game and won five of their last six games, four of them by double digits. … Virginia won its last three games, allowing only 46.6 points per game. … Florida State (24-7) won three of its last four after the second two-game losing streak of the season, losing only on the road against the Blue Devils. FSU finished unbeaten in 18 home games on Saturday by beating Miami (20-10). … Notre Dame (23-8) won six in a row prior to closing with a loss to Louisville (24-7) on Saturday. … Wake Forest (18-12) continued to bolster its NCAA credentials by winning the final three regular-season games, including victories over Louisville and Virginia Tech (21-9).

Who’s not: N.C. State (15-16) has lost nine of its last 10 games after beating Duke on the road. … Louisville split its final four games. … Syracuse (18-13) lost four of its last six games. … Duke fell in three of its last four, with two of the losses to unranked teams, Syracuse and UM. … Georgia Tech lost three of its last four but is somehow still in the NCAA tournament conversation.

Players to watch: Wake Forest center John Collins has averaged 24.0 points and 11.6 rebounds in his last five games, and is making .712 of his field-goal attempts. … North Carolina guard Joel Berry II is making a higher percentage of his 3-point shots (.522) than 2-point shots (.414) and averaging 18.5 points over his last four games. … Duke guard Luke Kennard is averaging 21.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in his last five games.
