Ciaran Kilduff’s killer instinct came through for the Jacksonville Armada.

The 29-year-old forward scored the game’s only goal as the Armada beat FC Edmonton 1-0 late Friday night at Clarke Stadium in Alberta.

Kilduff finished off a 68th-minute cross from fullback Kalen Ryden, halting a scoring drought that had swollen to 363 minutes.

The Irishman, who arrived in August, has now scored four of Jacksonville’s last five goals.

Goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell made four saves to preserve the shutout for an Armada squad missing key starters Jack Blake because of suspension and Kevan George because of international duty.

With the win, Jacksonville overtakes the New York Cosmos for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North American Soccer League combined standings with four games remaining.

The Armada (3-5-4) next meets North Carolina FC Friday at Hodges Stadium, the first of three straight home matches for the club. Jacksonville has not won a home game since July 1.
