Thumbs up to Mayor Lenny Curry’s proposed budget: It will apparently include money to prepare the old county courthouse and city hall for development, possibly as a convention center.

And Curry’s budget may fund improvements to the “Emerald Necklace” — which is the common reference to Hogans Creek and McCoys Creek Downtown.

One of the city’s key roles in helping to develop Downtown is taking care of public works — a task that includes making sure that the roads, water-sewer systems and riverfront are prepared for private development.

And there are very encouraging signs that this will be a significant priority in Curry’s proposed budget.
