Jaguars standouts Paul Posluszny, Marcedes Lewis and Cecil Shorts sit out Tuesday's practice

Hays Carlyon's Blog

The Jaguars gave some of their key veterans some extra rest on Tuesday.

Linebacker Paul Posluszny, tight end Marcedes Lewis and receiver Cecil Shorts were among the players held out as the team prepares for Friday's third preseason game at Detroit. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley also gave linebacker Geno Hayes and defensive tackle Roy Miller a veteran's day off.

Rookie center Luke Bowanko (ankle) returned to practice in limited fashion. Bowanko was the lone injured player to return to practice.

Cornerback Jamell Fleming was out with an Achillles injury. He's considered day to day.

Starting right tackle Austin Pasztor had surgery on his broken hand on Tuesday. He's expected to be out a month with the hope of returning by Week 3 of the regular season.

Shorts needs a rest? This

Shorts needs a rest? This dude is being pampered as if he is a factor or better yet a top-notch, bonafide, 1000yard receiver.
