All lanes have reopened after a fatal Friday morning crash involving two tractor trailer trucks shut down northbound Interstate 95 just past Florida 207 in St. Johns County for hours, according to the Highway Patrol.

And a second crash that caused a second blockage of the northbound interstate just south of that at the Florida 206 overpass has been cleared, according to the Highway Patrol.

The first crash, called in at 4:40 a.m., involved two large trucks and three other vehicles, but the Highway Patrol has not released information on injuries or who the fatal victim was.

The crash forced the Highway Patrol to reroute traffic at Florida 207, causing massive backups on northbound I-95 approaching the area until it was reopened just after noon, according to Florida Department of Transportation traffic cameras. The FDOT traffic cameras also showed serious traffic backups on southbound I-95 as motorists came up on the crash scene.

The Highway Patrol also reported a second, separate accident on I-95 northbound at Florida 206, just south of the fatal crash scene. Reported at 11:30 a.m., traffic was detoured around the Florida 206 overpass, but was reopened just before 2 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said.
