A literal case of “he said, she said” ended early Tuesday with the arrest of a 43-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach woman on a charge of attempted murder after her husband was shot in their home on Possum Trot Road, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Allison Mary Tomlinson was booked into the St. Johns County jail on that and a second charge of aggravated battery, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were dispatched to the home just east of Palm Valley Road at 1:20 a.m. in reference to a shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said. That’s when the woman told deputies she had accidentally shot her husband, 43-year-old Christopher Tomlinson. But when the husband was transported to Orange Park Medical Center, he told deputies he had shot himself, investigators said.

Detectives continued the investigation and spoke with Tomlinson and her husband as they searched the home before evidence obtained there led to her arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
