Two men were critically injured early Monday in a shooting outside a Palm Coast home, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Tristan George, 18, lives at the Seamanship Trail house where the shooting occurred just after midnight with his mother and a roommate, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The other victim was identified as Michael McRoberts, 21, also of Palm Coast.
Neighbors heard a lot of shots as George’s mother frantically reported what happened to a 9-1-1 operator while talking with her injured son.
“My son just got shot! My son just got shot,” the woman tells the operator in a nine-minute call released by the Sheriff’s Office. “We don’t know who it was.”
Details are sparse on the incident, other than the shooting occurred in the home’s driveway and the victims ended up in two places, Sheriff Rick Staly said.
“Our deputies responded and found a victim here who had been shot twice,” Staly said. “Simultaneously, Florida Hospital Flagler called us that they had a gunshot victim who had been dropped off at their hospital who had been shot once. We realized they were both connected.”
George was shot in the head, then the gunman was driven away in a car, the mother told the 9-1-1 operator. She also indicated that two guns were “right there” when the operator asked to ensure the safety of deputies responding to the home.
Minutes later McRoberts was dropped off at the hospital in by a woman now identified as Brooklynn Marino, who is still being sought by the Sheriff’s Office and may be driving a silver 2013 Nissan Altima with the tag IISS74. Staly said McRoberts gave deputies a false name at first. He had a warrant for violation of probation and grand theft.
A search warrant on the house turned up a gun believed involved in the shooting, as well as narcotics, the sheriff said.
Staly told FlaglerLive.com that there is more to the shooting than what’s being told to investigators, calling both men “victims/suspects.”
