A public workshop will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jacksonville Marriott at 4670 Salisbury Road to provide information on a Development and Environment Study on proposed Interstate 95 Express Lanes from Butler to Atlantic boulevards, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The workshop will be an open-house format with staff available to discuss the planned roadway project and no formal presentation planned.

Express Lanes are being set up along busier interstate routes in Florida. Vehicles using them must pay a toll, but electronic systems mean they don’t have to stop at booths to pay. The segment of I-95 between Butler and Atlantic boulevards experiences rush hour congestion due to demand that exceeds roadway capacity. The Transportation Department study will evaluate the addition of express lanes there to relieve congestion.
