Florida Highway Patrol warns of potentially smokey conditions on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County

Posted: August 24, 2014 - 5:55pm

Smoke from a wildfire in St. Johns County triggered a travel advisory Sunday night for motorists traveling on Interstate 95 south of International Golf Parkway. The Florida Highway Patrol said motorists should use caution in that area.

Smoke from a wildfire nearby might affect roadways. Visibility may deteriorate quickly due to smoke or fog-type conditions especially during the evening and early morning hours. Motorists should reduce their speed as necessary to avoid a collision, and use their low-beam headlights in order to adapt to the changing weather conditions, according to the highway patrol.

The highway patrol is monitoring the situation.
