Jacksonville's Senior Prom goes Gatsby on Aug. 1

Jacksonville’s Senior Services Division’s annual Senior Prom will be held at 6 p.m. Friday Aug. 1, at the Prime Osborn Convention Center at 1000 Water St.

The theme of this year’s event for local senior citizens is The Great Gatsby, with attendees encouraged to wear 1920s-era fashions. The event is sponsored by Florida Blue and features a formal dinner, dancing, live entertainment and giveaways. Tickets are $10 each for residents 60 and over, and can be purchased at the Mary J. Singleton Senior Center at 150 East 1st St. and City Hall at 117 West Duval St., Suite 210.

The evening includes the crowning of a prom king and queen and the selection of a prom court.
