A Jacksonville youth was shot in the back in Murray Hill Sunday evening as he ran from two robbers, police said.

The youth, who was not identified, was apparently injured by either a pellet gun or a small-caliber handgun and was expected to recover, said Sgt. Dennis McVicker of the Sheriff’s Office.

The robbers demanded the youth’s wallet and cell phone about 7:30 p.m., and shot when he ran north on Murray Drive, police said. The robbers ran east on Alpha Avenue and escaped.
