Monthly awards to be presented Thursday to JSO officers for deeds well done

Sheriff John Rutherford will present the August meritorious awards at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office:

■ Police Officer of the Month: Officer Christopher J. Rodriquenz, Patrol Zone 2.

■ Corrections Officer of the Month: Corrections Officer Gevonnia M. Thurman, Montgomery Correctional Center.

■ Civilian Employee of the Month: Jennie Denmark, R.N., Health Services Division.

■ Reserve Officers of the Month: Reserve officers Murray Kramer and Mike S. Griffin, honored for their assistance in the apprehension of two burglary suspects in May.

■ Police Supervisor of the Month: Sgt. J.C. LaDue, Offender Tracking Unit, recognized for assistance he provided during several human trafficking investigations.

■ Corrections Supervisor of the Month: Corrections Sgt. Richard W. Long Jr., Montgomery Correctional Center, recognized for his work in the launch of a new program at the prison called “A New Leash on Life.”

■ Six Pillars of Character Award: Det. Derek A. Pratico, Violent Crimes Task Force, for giving a local boy the birthday that had been stolen from when children’s clothing and his present had been stolen on March 27 from his mother’s van.

■ Certificate of commendation: Officer Daniel Flatt for his investigative work in two cases involving the “Knock-Out Game.”
