Two people are dead after their car ran off an Interstate 95 exit ramp in St. Johns County and struck a tree Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

About 8:45 p.m. the northbound Cadillac Eldorado was approaching the County Road 210 intersection when it veered from the left lane of I-95 onto the exit ramp.

The car ran off the right side of the ramp and struck a tree with its left side. Robert Lee Jones, 60, and Patricia Kim Newman-Jones, 57, both of Jacksonville Beach, were killed. They were wearing seat belts, the Highway Patrol said.
