A man was shot multiple times in the front yard of a house at the corner of West 19th Street and Myrtle Avenue about 5:55 p.m. Sunday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Charles Apelgren said the man was in his early twenties and was shot in torso and leg. His injuries aren’t expected to be life threatening, Apelgren said.
Two witnesses to the shooting said they heard about 15 shots coming from two guns. One said he saw a woman shooting from across Myrtle and a man shooting back. The witness who saw the shooting would not provide his name, but said the woman picked up her shell casings before fleeing the area.
Police evidence markers littered the front yard where the injured man was found.
Police didn’t know who fired the gun in the front yard, Apelgren said.
Apelgren said police did find one spent shell casing across the street from the house where the injured man was found, but he did not know if the spent casing was related to the shooting.
Apelgren said he didn’t know if two people fired weapons during the incident.
Police did not have any suspect information to release.
