Man shot multiple times in Jacksonville

Posted: January 26, 2014 - 9:54pm  |  Updated: January 26, 2014 - 11:34pm

A man was shot multiple times in the front yard of a house at the corner of West 19th Street and Myrtle Avenue about 5:55 p.m. Sunday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Charles Apelgren said the man was in his early twenties and was shot in torso and leg. His injuries aren’t expected to be life threatening, Apelgren said.

Two witnesses to the shooting said they heard about 15 shots coming from two guns. One said he saw a woman shooting from across Myrtle and a man shooting back. The witness who saw the shooting would not provide his name, but said the woman picked up her shell casings before fleeing the area.

Police evidence markers littered the front yard where the injured man was found.

Police didn’t know who fired the gun in the front yard, Apelgren said.

Apelgren said police did find one spent shell casing across the street from the house where the injured man was found, but he did not know if the spent casing was related to the shooting.

Apelgren said he didn’t know if two people fired weapons during the incident.

Police did not have any suspect information to release.

I accept your kind words, and

I accept your kind words, and thank you. ALL people are my people, and we are introducing young kids of all races to the idea of birth-control, disease-control, and overall abstinence. Not just from sexual activity, but drugs as well.

Walking Tall please accept my commendation and deepest respect for your efforts to help these young people find their way in life. Unfortunately it will be a tough job but if more people like you would step up then maybe we can fix this problem one kid at a time. I know we usually don't agree but I sincerely admire your dedication to your people. Good Luck!

Walking - the "outreach

Walking - the "outreach program" approach sounds nice. In addition to the aspects of tutoring, developing, and enhancing potential, allow me to suggest the addition of another focus point - birth control. Statistics will reveal that 1)these two have a 75% probability of being born out of wedlock with no family structure and 2)they both have in all likelihood produced multiple children (also out of wedlock with no family structure). So PARENTS in the street shooting at each other simply perpetuates the problem.
