Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at Biscotti’s restaurant in Avondale around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

The fire department told First Coast News the damage is not visible from outside the restaurant and the fire was confined to the kitchen area.

Biscotti’s owner Karin Tucker told the TV station she is thankful the fire was not worse and is happy the fire department responded so quickly. She said Biscotti’s will be closed for at least one day and may cater out of their sister restaurant, BB’s, in San Marco.

Officials told First Coast News there’s smoke damage throughout the eatery. Several pieces of equipment were lost and the kitchen will need repair.

The cause is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious. A further investigation will be conducted by the state fire marshal.
