The St. Johns River Ferry is back in action Wednesday morning, a month after it was taken out of service so infrastructure work could continue on its slip walls and landings on the Mayport and Fort George Island docks.

The JTA-operated ferry connects the north and south ends of Florida A1A with daily service, carrying cars and passengers between Mayport Village and Fort George Island across the St. Johns River. The ferry operates from 6 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. on weekends. The .9-mile voyage occurs every half hour.

For more information about the ferry schedule, tickets and rules for riding, visit or call JTA’s customer service line at (904) 630-3100.
