Flour & Fig Bakehouse will be the latest addition to Springfield’s Main Street this fall.

The restaurant will be located at 1715 Main St. N. and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Owners Kurt D’Aurizio and his wife Allison have been in the restaurant business for more than 20 years.

When the couple moved to Jacksonville six years ago from Myrtle Beach, S.C., D’Aurizio joined the staff at the Sulzbacher Center as executive chef. Allison started baking professionally and launched her business, My Grandmother’s Pie, and began selling her baked goods at events and farmers’ markets across Jacksonville.

“As things have progressed, we decided to merge into a bakehouse and move forward with a brick-and-mortar location,” D’Aurizio said. “She’ll run the bakery and I’ll run the kitchen.”

D’Aurizio said Allison will create a variety of baked goods including galettes, a pastry that can be done sweet or savory.

“We’re looking to do a breakfast galette with an egg as well as a local oyster mushroom kale brie and pesto, and a tomato and mozzarella galette,” he said. “We’ll also have vegan and vegetarian options with minimally processed ingredients.”

For lunch, D’Aurizio anticipates offering a variety of sandwiches, paninis and salads.

There will also be a coffee bar, craft beer, wines and a limited cocktail menu.

The 1,900-square-foot space will have outside seating and approximately 100 seats inside.

Flour & Fig Bakehouse will also use and sell local products from businesses such as Bold City Pops and Olive My Pickle.

D’Aurizio said he anticipates Flour & Fig Bakehouse will open in November.
