Two new concepts from Chef Kenny Gilbert of Fernandina Beach-based Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen and Southside’s Gilbert’s Social are opening on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Gilbert’s Southern Kitchen & Bar and Gilbert’s Hot Chicken, Fish & Shrimp will be opening at the former space of Seachasers at 831 1st St. N. in Jacksonville Beach, which closed on Jan. 1.
Gilbert’s Southern Kitchen & Bar will be upstairs with a menu of modernized yet traditional southern fare, with a heavy emphasis on seafood and barbecue.
The menu features an array of seafood and meat dishes such as fried chicken, and shrimp and grits.
The bar program will feature moonshine, whiskey and bourbon, as well as a selection of local and national craft beers.
Gilbert’s Hot Chicken, Fish & Shrimp will offer those three proteins and an array of sides.
Guests can dine by the ocean, either indoors or outdoors.
In addition to dine-in, both concepts will also offer takeaway.
Seachasers owner Jim Franks partnered with Gilbert, who is best known for his appearance on Bravo TV’s television series, “Top Chef,” to revamp the Seachasers building and menus.
A third space within the building, Seachasers Lounge, will host live entertainment four days a week.
